Vintage Summit 10: A Vintage Roundtable Discussion by some of the industry's leading eccentrics.

Vintage Summit," a discussion on vintage clothing among vintage fanatics that started in February 2014, has finally reached its 10th edition! We are pleased to welcome back four regular members, Tomohiro Konno, Michihiko Kurihara, Fujihara Yutaka, and Takashi Abe, who will introduce items that are currently attracting their interest. What items are they interested in?

I'm in the mood for short jackets these days."

1960's BAUER DOWN, 1980's L.L.Bean FISHING JACKET

Konno:The first is a fishing jacket. I brought these two pieces because I like short jackets and have been wearing them a lot lately.

Kurihara:It's a short run (laughs).

Konno:Yes, yes. I liked a manufacturer called "King Dash" (editor's note: a manufacturer of deformed school uniforms) (laughs).

All:(Laughter).

Abe:Is this jacket a Bauer down jacket?

Konno:That's right. It's a shape you don't see.

Fujiwara:I saw it for the first time too....

Abe:Where did you get this?

Konno:I bought it at a store in Harajuku called "Counter", an affiliate of "Damaged Dawn", around February this year.

Fujiwara:It's the former "Lost Hills" location.

Konno:Yes, that's right. I happened to be passing by the store and saw this jacket, so I went inside and asked to see it.

Kurihara:To begin with, you don't see down in fishing wear.

Konno:It's not there. It's a good shape when you wear it.

Abe:It's fishing, so the details are interesting...60's maybe?

Kurihara:I'm using this zip, so it's probably circa late 60s.

Fujiwara:If this color is available, then khaki may also be available.

Kurihara:But I don't see this form itself in the first place (laughs).

Abe:Why do I see so few of them?

Konno:Maybe there was no need for the combination of fishing and down (laughs).

Abe:Is this Elle Bean?

Konno:Yes, I have a pair of these. The fabric is interesting and PVC coated.

Kurihara:It hasn't deteriorated.

Konno:So far, I haven't.

Abe:I guess the 80's.

Konno:I think so. I found this ventilation hole interesting and was attracted to this detail.

Fujiwara:It's nice. I kept looking at it and it kind of looks like Kuri's face (laughs).

Kurihara:Because I don't know what to say (laughs).

Abe:Is this a game pocket?

Konno:I think the game pocket is fine.

Kurihara:Do you put your prey in the fishin like hunting?

Konno:Oh no, I don't think I'll put it in. I think I'll use it for another purpose...

Kurihara:When you think about it calmly, it is not a good idea to put a bird you have killed in the game pocket of your hunting jacket (laughs).

Konno:You often find blood on them or feathers in their pockets.

Abe:When did you get this?

Konno:This is a recent development. Recently, I have been having meetings with Mr. Setsumasa Kobayashi of Mountain Research, and his reference room is very interesting. When I saw the short jackets there, I got excited myself, and I started buying more and more. Maybe it is a remnant of my student days (laughs).
