A second hand was indispensable for accuracy certification. OMEGA overturned this common sense.
An acoustic inspection method developed by the Laboratoire de Précision, an inspection organization established by the company in 2023, has made it possible to generate and analyze data by capturing the faint sounds made by the movement. In other words, it is free from the conventional method of taking a photograph of the second hand and calculating the day difference.
Three years after the establishment of the laboratory, the first two-hand watch in the world was certified as a Master Chronometer.
The name of the model that accomplished the feat is Constellation Observatory.
CONSTELLATION OBSERVATORY
CASE : O-MEGA STEEL, 39.4mm
THICKNESS : 12.23mm
WATERPROOFNESS : 30m
POWER RESERVE : ABOUT 60 HOURS
PRICE : ¥1,727,000
Its design is a continuation of the Constellation introduced in 1952, with a dodecagonal pie pan dial (so named because of its resemblance to a frying pan for baking pies!) ), the star motif at 6 o'clock and the observatory medallion on the caseback (a tribute to the eight records achieved by the Geneva observatory), and the iconic dog-leg lugs of the time.
Faceted kite-shaped hour markers and dauphine hands are updated with a modern aesthetic.
The Constellation was OMEGA's first mass-produced chronometer and has left its mark on watch history. The Constellation is a worthy successor to the masterpiece that boasted unparalleled timekeeping performance.
The lineup includes nine models in O-MEGA steel as well as precious metals such as 18k Sedna ™️ and 950 platinum.
The model shown here is in O-MEGA steel with a black alligator strap. The movement is OMEGA Caliber 8914, and the case size of less than 40mm fits the current mood.
Only the owner can enjoy the Observatory medallion on the caseback.
The Omega marker is at the end of the buckle.
