Sento (public bathhouse) is a traditional Japanese culture. All over the country, sentou have supported our lives as a place for healing the body and soul and as a community spot.
However, as lifestyles change, the trend away from public bathhouses is accelerating. This is not to say that they will disappear completely, but their number continues to decline year by year.
BEAMS JAPAN" and "Milk Soap Kyoshinsha Co., Ltd." were launched to solve such issues. From January to February 2019, the two companies held the "Sento no Susume," an event to promote the enjoyment of sento (public bathhouses). .
This time, the second part of the project, "Sento no Susume. 2021," is launched. The exterior, interior, and even the murals of Kotobuki, a public bathhouse in Higashi Ueno, Tokyo, will be covered with illustrations by Mari Yamazaki, the author of "Thermae Romae" and "Olympia Cyclos".
