So, What is NEW VINTAGE? Vol.70 "What's Next? The next cool corporate thing". Amus Febo's cool accessories.

In the 1990s, the term "vintage" was used to describe vintage clothing that did not meet the definition of "antique," but was still valuable. Nowadays, there is a movement to find new value in "new vintage," even in old clothes from the 1980s onward, which were called "regular" at the time. In this project, four vintage clothing stores with different styles propose new ways to enjoy vintage clothing. Each of them will talk about the charm of vintage clothing with their own sense of style.

This is the ninth season that all the stores have been replaced and restarted. This 69th edition is the second tour for Hiryu Unno of TheSunGoesDown .

Vol.70_Febo's Snack Bag & Fun Slippers

-What is the new vintage item you are going to introduce this time?

In the previous issue, we introduced military items featuring their functional aspects, but this time we would like to introduce items from a different angle: culture. Have you ever heard of FEBO, a restaurant chain in the Netherlands?

-No, this is the first time I've heard of it .

Febo" was founded in 1940 as a pastry shop in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and is now a fast food restaurant that sells croquettes (croquettes) from a vending machine. Various flavors of croquettes are neatly displayed in the vending machines in the store, and for a few hundred yen, a warm croquette is served and ready to eat. In short, it is what I call an easy local gourmet food. I usually go to Europe to buy, so I learned about them from a local friend. There are many varieties and they are delicious with a taste that the Japanese like.

-. What is your position in Japan? What is your position in Japan?

McDonald's" is the local name. It has more than 75 stores in the country, and as a local chain with strong regional roots, it can be found in the arrival hall of Schiphol Airport and in Amsterdam's central railway station. The presence of "Febo" is one of the reasons why there are not as many fast food restaurants in the U.S. as in neighboring France and Belgium.

-I understand that it is a popular national chain, but I don't think it is croquettes that you are going to introduce to us?

No, no (laughs). Actually, the "Febo" is a very interesting merchandise as well. . So this time, I would like to feature the "Fun Slippers" and the "Snack Bag. Both have large white graphics on a red body, and the exquisite cheapness of the material gives them a nice fast-food feel.

-Oh, it looks like a look-alike of a very popular skate brand from New York, which is developed in Italy.

. I thought it was cool, including that part (laughs). The "Snack Bag" is literally a waist pouch perfect for carrying around a croquet. It has two storage compartments in the front and one zippered pocket in the back. According to the description on the official website, it can also hold a diploma from HAVO, a five-year high school (lol).

-I see. It doesn't ring a bell at all (smiles).

. right? Well, in the Japanese sense of the word, it is the size of a convenience store onigiri that fits. . Of course, we also recommend putting in a croquette, a hot snack sold in front of the cash register.

-What about the other "fan-slipper"?

. in essence, they are sandals, shower sandal type. Like the "Snack Bag," these sandals are comfortable to wear. After all, the catchphrase is "the comfort of walking on clouds. It is a catchphrase that I have heard somewhere before, but it is from ....... .

-That's what a certain designer said when he praised New Balance's "1300". Are these available in vending machines like Crockett?

If it hasn't changed now, it is basically not sold in stores , but online. The coloring is red and white, the brand's signature colors . There are many variations such as T-shirts and caps, etc. , so please check the official website.

-Corporate goods are also a popular genre among used clothing, but street-like items like this are rare and may be a good target.

In the U.S., corporate products such as "McDonald's," "FedEx," "IN-N-OUT BURGER," and "PINK'S HOTDOGS" are recognized as fashion items. They are very popular. In the case of Europe, there are not many corporate items that are popular in Japan, so I think they will become the focus of attention in the future. I expect that local culture, which has not been talked about before but has taken root in the local community, will be newly incorporated into the fashion scene!
