Tokyo Runners Portrait with lululemon

As a style, "running".

The running scene is about to take off into a new movement that will incorporate a wide variety of cultures because running is a simple and straightforward activity. What is now being questioned is how to run and how to enjoy it. In response, Huinum, with the cooperation of "lululemon," took portraits of runners based in Tokyo. While exploring their reasons for running, we will also explore the state of the running scene in recent years.

-What is the appeal of running?

I enjoy running alone, but I also love running with others. I think one of the best things about running is that it lets you get to know people’s perspectives and interests, even if you’ve just met them.

-A run to remember.

At the end of last year, I ran the Honolulu Marathon with members of BRICK by TOKYO. The scenery, the weather, and the other runners—everything was amazing! Until now, including at the High-Rox, we had each been focused on chasing our own personal best times, but at the Honolulu Marathon, the three of us were able to run side by side to the finish line, and we discovered a whole new way to enjoy the full marathon.

-What is your personal best and target time?

My full marathon time is 3 hours and 50 minutes. My goal is to break 3 hours and 30 minutes by the end of this year. I want to build the leg strength to run for long periods and develop the mental toughness to push through when things get tough.

-What is your “Yet” (a goal you have yet to achieve)?

We want to share with people not only in Japan but also across Asia and the rest of the world the appeal of a lifestyle centered around fitness—a core value that BRICK holds dear.

-What is your impression of Lululemon?

I get the strong impression that they really value their community and the people around them. In fact, I actually met the BRICK members at a Lululemon community event.

-How do you feel about the comfort and design of the "YET Race Day Kit"?

It holds its shape well and doesn't wrinkle easily, so I think it will last a long time. The design, inspired by the neon lights of Tokyo's nightlife, has a real urban vibe. Since we at BRICK are based in Tokyo, we really like it.

The "YET Race Day Kit" looked great on runners crisscrossing Tokyo with total freedom. Whether you’re already running or just getting started, be sure to give it a try! Oh, and by the way, the "YET Race Day Kit" isn’t available online, so be sure to stop by a Lululemon store in Tokyo to pick one up.
