It was a special development beyond imagination.

What was the story behind the Salt & Pepper pop-up store?
Sato:Beams T" has been regularly collaborating with the London boutique "THE GOODHOOD STORE" on collaborative projects, including art shows and sales of items. . As we continued to do so, we began to think that we wanted to create a more innovative and new presentation. . That's when we started asking Mr. Ohkita if we could do some kind of project with "Salt & Pepper".
Great North:It was January two years ago, right? We went to London together when "Salt & Pepper" was just a little while old.
Sato:Yes, that's right. We were talking about exhibiting at an art book fair called "Offprint" in London with "Salt & Pepper" and "BEAMS T." At the same time, we decided to sell related goods at "Wood Wood" as well. We also decided to sell related goods at "Wood Wood" at that time.
Great North:It was a lot of fun, wasn't it? We went to a dojo in London for judo practice, and I missed a dinner party because I was jet-lagged and couldn't get up at all (laughs).
Sato:Many things happened, I remember vividly (laughs). I remember vividly. But that was postponed due to the Corona disaster, and this is when we decided to do it. . That freed up some time, so changes were made from what we had planned to hold in London, and it took on the form it has this time.

Stefan Marx, who drew the logo for Salt & Pepper, has drawn a logo with both names on it for this event. While tote bags with the logos printed on them will be available, the T-shirts will be specially made as staff T-shirts and are not for sale.
Begins with this question: Is it common for BEAMS T to collaborate with an art gallery and store such as Salt & Pepper?
Sato:I think this will be a fairly rare case. We regularly work with individual stores, but I can't remember the last time I worked with a store that claimed to be a gallery. . Basically, we tend to work with artists and brands.
Great North:With that in mind, I had some trouble deciding how to develop the project. I wanted to bring the space presented on the second and third floors of "Salt & Pepper" to life, but it was difficult to know what kind of presentation would be best. I'm the type of person who changes two or three things while thinking about it, and things kept changing.
Sato:. it has changed, hasn't it? We even started taking minutes during the process so that we could go back and see how things changed.
Great North:Cc's in the mail were getting bigger and bigger, too.
Sato:I am a worrier (laughs).
All:(Laughter).
Great North:Moreover, this pop-up store will be held from August 13 to 29, which is a long time. . It was difficult to think of something that would keep visitors entertained during the period of the event.
Sato:It is the longest span of time we have ever had. However, I had heard from those around me that "Ohkita-san is a person who goes above and beyond what you imagine on the day, so you will be absolutely fine," so I was looking forward to it.
Great North:. We also planned to change the placement of the items as we saw how they looked when we set up. . In fact, we had to wait until one week into the pop-up before we could start selling the items and the T-shirts we had made for this pop-up.

While Mr. Ohkita makes arrangements based on his on-site judgment, Mr. Sato keeps checking every step of the process. As the buyer, who is also in charge of the place, it is probably just right for him to be a bit of a worrywart.
