In the 1990s, the term "vintage" was used to describe vintage clothing that did not meet the definition of "antique," but still had value, as opposed to "antique" clothing that was 100 years old. Nowadays, there is a movement to find new value in "new vintage," even in old clothes from the 1980s onward, which used to be called "regular" vintage clothes. In this project, four vintage clothing stores with different styles propose new ways to enjoy vintage clothing. Each of them will talk about the charm of vintage clothing with their own sense of style.
This is the last in the 10th season, which started with all the stores newly replaced. The 80th edition, which will be the last, features Mr. Takahisa Sakamoto of "Warming". Now, what new vintage items will he introduce in the second round?

Vol.80_The Territory Ahead's Shirt Jacket & Anorak & Cap
-Now, what is the new vintage item that you would like to introduce to us?
I have been introducing items with an outdoor background, but this time I would like to change things up a bit and introduce a fashion brand. However, I don't have much information at hand, so this will be an introduction based on what I know. ......
-I'm very curious. What brand is it?
THE TERRITORY AHEAD is a brand born in Santa Barbara, California, USA. It was founded in 1989 and is still going strong. According to the text on the official website, the concept of the brand is "clothes for the adventure of life," and in fact, the items here are characterized by slightly adventurous details, even in the standard motifs. Each item is unique and very interesting. So, I have prepared three of them for you this time.
-Oh, this gives an interesting feel to the poof.
It's a classic American casual item with a twist. The twist on a standard American casual item has something in common with the spirit of "POLO RALPH LAUREN. Although the encounter rate with this brand is low, when you do come across it, the probability of getting a "hit" is extremely high, and the items I have seen so far have all been quite appealing.
-Please tell me what kind of items each of these is.
Let's start with this one. The work-like design, such as the cordieroy collar and riveted pockets, is that of a coverall, but the material is soft cotton, and the sleeve ends are tailored as a shirt. So, it is classified as a shirt jacket. The highlight is the excellent silhouette. The size is XL, but the arm length, body width, and length are suitable for the Japanese body shape, so it is easy to wear. You may also be interested in the multi-stripe pattern lining that is peeking out, right? So, turn it inside out and you'll see what it looks like.
It does not appear to be reversible, but it can be worn that way. There is a functional zipped pocket on the chest, and the sleeves have padding for some reason. Normally, padding would be placed in the body of the garment, but I wonder if there is some kind of intention or if this is a regional feature (......). (Laughs). In addition to this, there are replacement buttons on the loops behind the front placket, a pith name and woven name tag that can be seen when the hem is turned up, and other details that are truly elaborate.
-This is a true treasure trove of detail. Next is the anorak. What are the highlights here?
If I had to name one thing, it would be the overall atmosphere. The material is 74% cotton and 26% nylon. Perhaps it is because of the high cotton content, but the faded coloring and the puckering texture created by repeated wear is also a nice touch. The orange and beige color blocking and the subtle moss green zipper are typical of our style. The stitching accents are also effective.
. - Light outerwear that can be used regardless of the season.
Exactly . With the waterproofness of the material and the breathability of the mesh liner, it will be useful in three seasons from early spring to late fall. We have been focusing on anoraks since we first opened our shop, but this type of design is fresh. The round balloon silhouette can be worn with any type of bottoms, so it is recommended for those who want to try various outfits.
-What do you wear inside when you wear an anorak like this?
A normal crew-neck sweatshirt, for example. For the coming season, a long T-shirt or a T-shirt will also be fine, and for a change, a slightly larger shirt would be a good option. And lastly, caps from the accessory category. This is also interesting.
. - I see that the items were developed in a wide range of areas.
However, tops are by far the easiest to find. Shirts are the most common, followed by light outerwear. On the other hand, small items are rare, so it can be said that they are rare items. The fabric used for the body is an interesting plaid corduroy or stitch-like material, and the embroidered logo on the back is also eye-catching. The visor is leather on the front. The visor is leather on the front, with a cracked look that may be due to aging, and the back is a herringbone fabric. This, combined with the leather strap, gives the bag an American country feel.
-Simple at first glance, but this too is remarkable for its interesting details.
In addition, I would like to draw your attention to the silhouette. The visor is slightly longer and the crown is shallow. To be honest, I like it so much that I'm thinking of buying one myself (laughs). When I want to match a cap with a logo sweatshirt, if both logos are used, it will look too noisy, so a blank cap like this is very useful to add accents while subtracting.
. - I have made a new discovery.Summer of love" previously mentioned a domestic brand called "Dezert.. and I feel a somewhat similar groove to that as well.
The exquisite arrangement of the items has a street-style flavor. As our store has many basic items, I thought it would be good to have a spice that is occasionally stuck in the racks of such items. I don't mean spices like chili peppers or other harsh spices, but something like pepper (laughs).
-By the way, do other stores carry many of the items from "The Territory Ahead"?
I'm sure there are some, but I doubt they are valued very highly in the old-fashioned stores that deal in so-called American vintage clothing. . It may be more likely to be found in stores that specialize in design vintage clothing. I would be happy if this article could help you appreciate the brand, but honestly, it doesn't appear that much, so if you find it, please give it a try anyway.
