Canada, which made its second World Cup appearance in 36 years at the 2022 tournament in Qatar and is set to become the first nation in history to compete in two consecutive World Cups as the host nation, has a special connection to its uniforms. While it is common for World Cup participants to unveil new designs for the tournament, Canada was the only one of the 32 competing nations to compete without a new kit at the last tournament, despite their long-awaited return to the big stage. In response, both their home and away kits have been unveiled with great anticipation for this tournament, with the away kit featuring a concept inspired by a frozen winter landscape. True to their reputation as a winter sports powerhouse, the design incorporates graphics of ice shattering under the blades of skates, with the maple leaf—a symbol of Canada—drawn within the ice as if it were a skater’s trail. Furthermore, each piece of this graphic features subtle variations in detail, making it arguably one of the most stylish uniforms of the tournament.
