In recent years, the national football uniform has evolved into a “cultural canvas” that reflects the history, tradition, aesthetics, prestige, values, ethnicity, national consciousness, and atmosphere of the times of each country. For this reason, looking at the uniforms is not only about enjoying football, but also about learning about the culture of countries around the world.

In this issue, we have selected 11 countries with particularly outstanding designs and cultural backgrounds from among the uniforms released for the FIFA World Cup 2026. From France and Argentina, the favorites to win the tournament, to Japan and New Zealand, we introduce them in order of their current FIFA world ranking. 8. ウルグアイ（17位）

1930年の第1回大会のホスト国かつ初代王者でもあるウルグアイは、1900年代前半のフットボールシーンにおいて世界屈指の強豪国として君臨していました。今回のアウェイは、その当時の歴史をオマージュ。胸部から腕部にかけてデザインされたグラフィックは、第1回大会の決勝が行われたことから“FIFA決勝の聖地”と呼ばれる、ウルグアイ・モンテビデオのスタジアム「エスタディオ・センテナリオ」を上空から見下ろした際の座席配置をビジュアル化しながら、初代優勝トロフィー“ジュール・リメ”のシルエットを融合。さらに、古代先住民の鎧のニュアンスも込められており、“先人たちが築き上げた栄光を背負って戦う”という精神性までも表現した、国のフットボール史そのものな一着に。ちなみに、エンブレム上に輝く4つの星にも、ウルグアイならではの歴史があります。W杯優勝回数自体は1930年と1950年の2回ですが、1924年と1928年のオリンピック男子フットボール競技もFIFA主催の世界大会として公式に認められているため、その栄光を含めた“4つ星”が煌めいているのです。
